Dr Indu Gunawardena is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery.

Dr Gunawardena graduated from the University of Sydney Medical School completing her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2001 and her internship at Westmead Hospital. Having completed General Otolaryngology training in New Zealand she then undertook further subspecialist fellowship training in Rhinology, Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery, Head and Neck Surgery and Sleep Apnea Surgery at Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide. She has also completed visiting fellowships at Toronto General Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, Canada, specialising in Head and Neck Oncology and at the Harborview Medical Centre, Seattle, USA specialising in Sleep Apnea surgery.

Dr Gunawardena has a strong interest in research on topics in Head and Neck Oncology, Rhinology and Sleep Apnea Surgery.

She has presented and published her research both nationally and internationally and strives to apply evidence based medicine to her clinical practice. She is the recipient of several research grants and awards for basic science and clinical research in Otolaryngology.

Dr Gunawardena is one of a handful of surgeons who has completed subspecialty fellowship training in Sleep Apnoea Surgery for adult and paediatric patients.

Dr Gunawardena sees paediatric and adult patients and has special interests in paediatric and adult Sleep Apnea, Snoring, Rhinology, Allergy, Endoscopic Sinus Surgery and Head and Neck Oncology.

Dr Gunawardena provides consulting services at Gosford and Woongarrah and operates at Gosford Private Hospital and Gosford Public Hospital.
