Dr Gunawardena uses the coblation technique for many of her procedures. This is a technique that uses radio frequency energy and saline. Since it is not a heat driven technique the surrounding healthy tissue is preserved. The technique is used in tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, turbinate reduction surgery of the nose and tongue reduction surgery.
